About Heritage Cutting

Cutting, done right — in the Midwest

Heritage Cutting™ is a veteran-led platform amplifying the riders, horses, and stories that keep cutting alive. We connect riders, veterans, and fans through two simple promises:

  • Horse‑first storytelling — every word and image reflects respect for the animal, the rider, and the truth of the run.
  • Real access — open doors for riders, families, and veterans to share their stories and belong to something larger than themselves.

Tagline: Do right. Ride true. Earn it in the dirt.

Our mission

To grow cutting with integrity — lifting up riders through honest storytelling, honoring veterans in and around the arena, and building a community where newcomers and seasoned cutters alike feel at home.

What We Write About

Through Heritage Cutting™ Journal, we share stories that honor the horse, the rider, and the faith and grit that hold this sport together. From the quiet hands of a trainer to the steadfast service of a veteran, each story reflects the values that built this community — and the ones that will keep it strong for generations to come.

Founder’s note

Eight years in naval nuclear power taught me to respect precision and purpose — qualities that serve me as much in the saddle as in the boardroom. After earning an MBA from Ohio State, I built a career in corporate development while following a lifelong pull toward cutting. I’m an NCHA member, veteran, and certified equine massage therapist — writing to bridge the space between business and the horse world, where heritage still matters.

Heritage Cutting is my promise to serve both horse and community with integrity — telling stories worth sharing and building opportunities that last.

What we do

Veteran Spotlights

Honoring the grit, service, and discipline veterans bring to the cutting community — where Western tradition and military values ride together.

Community Storytelling

Sharing the everyday scenes that make this life real — barn aisles, warm-ups, rail-side cheers, and quiet moments with the horse. Always with credit. Never behind a paywall.

Education & Insight

Demystifying cutting through articles, interviews, and reflections that grow understanding of the sport — from training principles to the business and culture that surround it.

Faith & Heritage

Exploring the deeper roots of why we ride — faith, stewardship, and legacy. This isn’t just a sport; it’s a way of life handed down with purpose and care.

Why “Heritage”

Because the best of cutting is a hand-off: horsemanship passed down, traditions honored, and responsibility carried forward. Our goal is to leave the next generation a sport — and a culture — stronger than we found it.

Our values

  • Faith: The heart behind the work.
    • We ride, serve, and see the road ahead with gratitude, humility, and trust in God’s timing.
  • Horse‑first: We’re stewards before we’re storytellers.
    • Every horse deserves patience, understanding, and a fair shot — in the pen, in print, and in the legacy we leave behind.
  • Integrity: Say what you mean. Do what you promise.
    • We believe in straight talk, fair dealings, and the kind of honesty that doesn’t need an audience.
  • Grit: Progress over polish.
    • The best lessons come from dirt, dust, and doing — not shortcuts or shine.
  • Stewardship: We don’t own this life; we borrow it.
    • Our job is to leave the land, the animals, and the people better than we found them.
  • Hospitality: We make space for others the way we’ve been shown grace.
    • In the barn or in the stands, everyone deserves to feel seen, respected, and part of the story.
  • Service: We honor those who’ve served — in the arena, on the ranch, and in uniform —
    • by making sure they have a place in the story and a voice in the future.
  • Heritage: Tradition isn’t nostalgia — it’s responsibility.
    • We carry forward what’s worth keeping and learn from what’s been forgotten.

Beyond 2025: Carrying the Story Forward

As Heritage Cutting grows, our vision remains steady — to honor the horse, build community, and tell the stories that remind us why this life matters.
In time, that may mean events, partnerships, or new ways to serve the people who make this sport great — riders, trainers, veterans, and fans alike.

But for now, our focus is on what lasts:
the words that give meaning,
the work that earns respect,
and the riders who remind us why we ride in the first place.

Every story we tell, every rider we feature, and every handshake we make carries this heritage forward.

Who we serve

Heritage Cutting exists for the people who make this life worth living — those who believe the horse still comes first, and that hard work and heart still matter.

  • Riders & Trainers who give their all in and out of the arena, chasing excellence with respect for the horse and the sport.
  • Veterans & Families who understand discipline, service, and camaraderie — and bring those same values to the cutting community.
  • Fans & Supporters who love Western sport, honest stories, and maybe just need a little more cowbell in their life.
